Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

A pedestrian aged in his 60s has been killed in a hit-and-run collision.

The victim was struck by a vehicle on the Naas to Clane Road at Sallins Village shortly after midnight on Monday. He was rushed to Naas General Hospital but later died.

Gardai have appealed for the driver of a white van seen in the Sallins Village area between midnight and 1am to come forward.

Investigators also want any witnesses in the area to contact Naas Garda Station.

The road remains sealed off pending completion of an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
