Post-mortem examination due after woman found dead in apartment

A post-mortem examination has been ordered after a woman was found dead in an apartment.

Gardai said the dead woman, aged 43, was discovered in the home on William Street in Raphoe, Co Donegal, shortly after 8pm on Thursday night.

The State pathologist's office has been called in to carry out preliminary tests and to establish the cause of death.

Gardai were called to the apartment on Thursday night and the woman was pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived.

The Garda press office said the woman's body remained at the scene overnight and State Pathologist Marie Cassidy is due to carry out a preliminary examination later before a post-mortem takes place.
