President Higgins swearing in to avoid clash with war services
The inauguration in Dublin of Michael D Higgins as Irish President has been postponed until the evening of November 11 in order to avoid a clash with those marking the centenary of the Armistice in the morning.
Mr Higgins, who will be serving his second term as President, will represent his country at a State event in Glasnevin Cemetery to commemorate the end of the First World War.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will attend a commemoration at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, while Tanaiste Simon Coveney will be in Belfast.
Irish Business Minister Heather Humphreys will represent the Republic at commemorations in Enniskillen.
