Gardai are looking for art thieves after three paintings were stolen

Three paintings by some of Ireland's foremost artists were stolen in a heist at a house a week ago.

The valuable artworks were taken in a break-in at the home in Donard, Co Wicklow on the evening of October 22.

They include Sir John Lavery's Portrait of a Lady, Paul Henry's Landscape With Cottage and one of Jack B Yeats' works The Fern In The Area.

The artists are regarded among the finest to come out of Ireland and all have works hanging in the National Gallery and were highly prized during the boom years.

Gardai in Baltinglass have appealed for members of the public to assist the investigation.

Detectives urged anyone who has information on the robbery or anyone who may have been offered the paintings to come forward. No arrests have been made.
