Probe after man dies in street stabbing

A 19-year-old man has been arrested.

A middle-aged man has been killed in a stabbing, gardai said.

The attack happened at Buirg an Ri Walk, Balgaddy, Co Dublin, at approximately 10.20pm on Wednesday.

Gardai said the victim was 52.

He suffered a number of stab wounds and died a short time later at the scene.

A 19-year-old man was arrested shortly after midnight.

Gardai said he was detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under the provisions of section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out and technical and forensic examinations are taking place at the scene.

Gardai appealed to witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or who have information to contact them.
