Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man at a house in Co Cork.

The man, in his late 40s, was discovered at a terraced house in High Street, in the town of Skibbereen, at around 9am on Monday.

It is understood he may have received an injury.

Officers have cordoned off the scene for investigations to be carried out. The state pathologist has been notified.

A post-mortem examination conducted at Cork University Hospital would determine the direction of the investigation, garda said.
