Second man shot in Dublin

The shooting comes after a man was found dead with gunshot wounds next to a burning car in Balbriggan on Tuesday night.

A second man has been shot in Dublin in less than 24 hours.

Gardai said the shooting happened in the Marigold Road area of Darndale at about 4pm on Wednesday.

It comes after a man was found dead beside a burning car in Balbriggan on Tuesday night. He had gunshot wounds.

Gardai said the shooting happened at Rowans Little, Walshestown, at about 11.20pm on Tuesday night.

They were alerted to the car on fire and found the man beside the vehicle. He was in his twenties.

His body was removed from the scene on Wednesday and taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The area was sealed off to allow an examination by forensic investigators.

Gardai have appealed for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed either incident to come forward.
