Six people have been arrested after a man alleged he was being falsely imprisoned at a house.

The scene of the alleged imprisonment in Castletown, Kilpatrick, near Navan, Co Meath, has been sealed off.

It is understood gardai were alerted to the house on Thursday evening by an Eastern European.

Three men and two women, aged from their early 40s to early 60s, have been detained after a search was carried out.

A teenage girl was also arrested at the scene.

They are all being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and are being questioned at a number of Garda stations in Meath.

"Investigations are ongoing," a Garda spokesman said.
