Six quizzed over stolen alcohol

Six suspected dissident republicans have been arrested after a stolen lorry carrying alcohol was stopped.

The articulated truck was intercepted on the M1 at Drogheda, Co Louth.

Three men in their 30s were arrested at the scene after the consignment of drink and a second trailer loaded with alcohol was also recovered.

In a follow-up operation, three other men, also in their 30s, were arrested in Delvin, Co Westmeath.

The suspects were being questioned at Balbriggan, Drogheda, Kells and Navan Garda Stations.

The operation was led by officers from the Special Detective Unit and the Louth-Meath division.
