Suspect charged after attack on Polish man

A man was charged last night following a brutal assault on a Polish man on his way to work.

He will appear before the Criminal Court this morning in relation to the attack early on Saturday morning.

Two other men arrested in relation to the incident were being questioned by gardai last night.

One of the men, in his late teens, was in custody at Clontarf garda station, the other was being held at Raheny garda station.

The Eastern European man is being treated for head injuries in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin following the attack in the Newtown Industrial Estate in Coolock, north Dublin.

Gardai investigating the matter first arrested a man in his 20s and, subsequently, a teenager for questioning.

It is believed that the man was on his way to work in the early morning when the the incident occurred.

Anyone who was on the Malahide road, between the Hilton Hotel and the Darndale roundabout, or in the industrial estate between 4am and 5am, has been asked to contact Coolock garda station at (01) 666 4200.
