Teenager arrested after Garda officer injured in shooting

A teenager has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Dublin which left a member of Irish Garda injured.

Officers said the 18 year-old was arrested on Friday morning for questioning.

The garda was shot in the arm on Thursday during a drugs raid at a property in Ballymun in the north of the city, and armed gardai returned fire.

Another man, aged 18, was also shot.

The Garda said two women who were arrested for questioning have been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

A man in his 40s is continuing to be questioned in connection with the shooting.

Speaking on Friday at Ballymun Garda Station, Detective Superintendent Colm Fox appealed to members of the public who were in the vicinity of 1 Barnwell Drive between 6pm on December 6 and 7am on December 7 to contact the incident room at Ballymun Garda Station.

He added: "In particular, we would like to hear from taxi drivers, take away food outlets who may have delivered to this address or anyone else who may have had reason to call to this address."
