Three held over Dublin armed raid

Three suspects were arrested by detectives within minutes of an armed robbery at a shop.

Staff were threatened during the raid at Costcutter in Lusk, north Co Dublin, at 10pm on Saturday night.

Gardai said three men wearing balaclavas entered the retail premises armed with what appeared to be a firearm and were leaving with a large quantity of cash when they were apprehended by detectives.

A spokeswoman said: "Two firearms were recovered, along with all of the property taken. A motor car was also seized at the scene.

"The men, who are aged mid 20s to late 40s, are currently detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Swords, Raheny and Clontarf Garda Station.

"No customers or staff were injured during the raid."

Officers from Balbriggan carried out the operation.
