Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a toddler was injured in a hit-and-run in Cork.

The incident occurred on Oliver Plunkett Street in Bandon at about 6pm on Saturday evening.

The boy, aged two, was struck by a passing motorist.

The Garda said the driver failed to stop and drove in the direction of Bandon Fire Station.

The toddler was taken to Cork University Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
