A man has been found dead and another injured at a service station truck stop.

Two men, one in his 40s and the other in his 20s, were arrested at the scene of the incident on Dublin Road in Fermoy, Co Cork.

Gardai said the dead man was discovered at about 10.30pm on Tuesday.

It is believed he had been attacked.

Gardai said officers were alerted to an incident at the truck stop just outside Fermoy, where the dead and injured men were discovered and the two arrests made.

They are being held in Fermoy and Mallow Garda stations under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai said the injured man, in his late 30s, was being treated at Cork University Hospital where his injuries are not life-threatening.
