Two arrested over stabbing death

Two men have been arrested over the murder of a Romanian man stabbed to death in his home.

The 40-year-old victim was attacked when two men forced their way into the apartment in Cavan on Saturday night.

Both suspects, one aged in his 40s and the other in his 30s, were arrested in the town last night in connection with the death.

They are being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The knife attack happened in front of the dead man's partner in a property in Connolly Court.

It is understood he had only arrived in Ireland a few days ago.

Gardai have appealed for anyone who witnessed anything unusual or suspicious in or around Connolly Court apartments between 10pm and midnight to come forward
