Two bodies found in Dublin canal

Gardai are investigating the discovery of the bodies of a man and woman in Dublin's Grand canal.

A member of the public discovered the bodies shortly after midday on Saturday at Suir Road, Inchicore.

Both are thought to be in their late 20s.

The scene is preserved at present and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist have been requested.

Gardai at Kilmainham said they are investigating all the circumstances.

While there were no further details available as to how long the bodies were in the water, or the cause of death, post mortems are scheduled to take place on Sunday.
