Two men arrested amid probe into Kinahan cartel
Detectives investigating the Kinahan crime cartel have arrested two men after seizing more than a quarter of a million euro in cash.
A man in his 30s was detained as he tried to enter an apartment in Sandyford, south Dublin, carrying 300,000 euro in bank notes.
Cash counting machines and packaging equipment were found inside the flat during the planned raid by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.
Investigating officers launched a number of follow-up searches in Clondalkin, in the west of the city, following the operation on Thursday.
Another man, aged in his 30s, was also arrested.
The pair are being held at Blackrock and Clondalkin Garda stations under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
A Garda spokesman said the arrests and seizures were carried out as part of ongoing investigations targeting serious criminal activity in Dublin.
