Two men held during heroin seizure

About 1.5 million euro worth of heroin has been seized by gardai.

Armed officers from the Organised Crime Unit in Harcourt Square, Dublin, stopped and searched a car on the Old North Road at 2am.

Two men, one in his early 60s and one in his early 50s, were arrested at the scene.

They are currently being detained at Finglas Garda Station, where they can be questioned for seven days under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The seizure was part of an ongoing operation into organised crime.

A Garda spokesman said that pending analysis, the heroin could have a street value of approximately 1.5 million euro.
