Two young men killed in early morning Donegal crash

Two young men have been killed in an early morning head-on crash in Donegal.

The crash happened just before 5am when a car hit a van on the inbound carriageway of the N13 at Trimragh, Letterkenny.

Gardai said one of the vehicles had to have been travelling in the wrong direction.

The occupants of the car, two young men understood to be be aged in their late teens and 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene. They are believed to be from Letterkenny.

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 40s, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, Letterkenny.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Garda forensic collision investigators have been requested to examine the scene and the local coroner has been notified.

The road has been closed and is expected to remain so for some time.
