Winning ticket for huge EuroMillions jackpot bought in Dublin

The winning ticket for an 88 million euro EuroMillions jackpot was bought in Dublin.

Despite rumour and speculation about a syndicate in Cork, the National Lottery said the magic numbers were put through a machine in the capital.

The exact prize was 88,587,275 euro.

"The lucky ticket holders have made contact with the National Lottery following their win to make arrangements to collect their prize money," the lottery bosses said.

It is not known if the winner or winners have decided if they will go public or when the prize will be collected.

It will be several days before they can get their hands on the prize, as the eight other countries where the game is played have to transfer the funds.

Ireland has a good record of EuroMillions jackpot winners.

The country's biggest winner was Dolores McNamara, who scooped 115 million euro in 2005, while other cheques have been written in recent years for 94 million euro for someone who bought a ticket in north Dublin, 87 million euro for a syndicate for a ticket bought in Ballybrack, Dublin, and a group of friends who won 66 million euro.
