Woman arrested after man's body found in flat

A woman has been arrested over the discovery of a man's body in an apartment after a suspected stabbing.

The remains of the victim, aged in his early 40s, were found in the flat at The Maltings in Roscrea, Co Tipperary.

Gardai were called to the scene shortly after 2.30am on Sunday morning.

They said the man had suffered apparent stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the apartment.

A woman, aged in her mid 40s, was arrested a short time later.

She is being held at Nenagh Garda station where she is being questioned under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene has been sealed off and a pathologist has been asked to carry out a post-mortem examination.

Gardai said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
