A Malaysian woman has been remanded in custody charged with trafficking.

Chan Gel, 29, whose address was given as no fixed abode, was charged with facilitating the entry of others into the state.

She was arrested at Dublin Airport on Tuesday night after being stopped by officers from the Garda National Immigration Bureau.

The woman was detained on suspicion of illegally helping Chinese man Hua Chen and woman Zhen Fang, both aged 18, enter Ireland.

They were both charged with landing at Dublin Airport on Tuesday night and attempting to enter the state without a passport and failing to produce a passport.

All three appeared briefly before the Dublin District Court and were remanded in custody for one week.
