Woman 'critical' after attack in city house

A woman is critically ill after being attacked at a house in Limerick.

The 37-year-old was found with possible stab wounds when Gardai were called to a disturbance at the property in Hassetts Villas, Thomondgate.

It happened at about 12.40am.

The injured woman is being treated at University Hospital, Limerick, where her condition is described as critical but stable.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and is being held at Henry Street Garda station in Limerick city.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
