Woman dies in car crash

A woman in her seventies has died in a car crash in Co Kerry.

The woman, the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene after her car hit a wall on Friday.

At about 11.25am Gardai and emergency services attended the scene at Farranwilliam, Ardfert, Co Kerry.

The woman’s body was taken to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee for a post mortem examination.

Garda forensic collision investigators were examining the crash site.

The road was closed, with local diversions in place, and the coroner has been notified.
