Detectives have arrested a woman after seizing illegal drugs believed to worth almost half a million euro.

Cannabis plants, valued at 170,000 euro, and cannabis herb, worth an estimated 300,000 euro, were uncovered at a makeshift growhouse in Waterford.

Officers carried out a raid on the property at Coppinger Court in Powerscourt at around 4pm yesterday afternoon.

They arrested a woman in her 40s at the scene and took her to Tramore Garda station.

She is being questioned under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

The scene was sealed off for a technical examination.

The drugs haul has been sent for forensic analysis.
