Woman held after 'stabbing' death

A woman has been arrested after a man died from apparent stab wounds, gardai have said.

The 36-year-old victim was taken to hospital around 10:30pm last night after an incident at a house in Phibsboro, Dublin.

Gardai said they are investigating the circumstances leading up to the death.

"A man, 36 years, was taken from the scene by ambulance to the Mater Hospital with apparent stab wounds," a Garda spokesman said.

"He was later pronounced dead on Sunday."

A woman, in her mid 40s, has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

She is being held at Mountjoy Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

"The scene is preserved pending a forensic and technical examination and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified," the Garda spokesman added.
