Woman killed in two-car collision

A woman in her 50s has died after a road crash.

The victim was seriously injured in a collision on the Foxford to Ballina road in Co Mayo on Tuesday.

Investigating gardai said she was pronounced dead at Mayo General Hospital.

The collision between two cars happened at around 9.20pm at a section known as Armstrongs Corner, about three miles outside Foxford.

The drivers were the only occupants in each car.

The second driver's injuries are described as not life threatening.

The road was closed to allow forensic experts examine the scene.
