Woman killed in two-car collision

A 25-year-old woman has died in a car crash in Co Donegal.

The two-car collision happened at Fahan, outside Buncrana, just before 11pm on Thursday.

The woman, who was driving one of the cars, was fatally injured.

The driver of the other car, a 20-year-old man, was injured and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

There were no passengers in either car.

The road was closed to allow a technical examination by forensic experts. Gardai appealed for witnesses.

Separately, a pensioner died after being hit by a car in Drumshambo, Co Leitrim.

The 74-year-old woman was walking at Acres on the Carrick on Shannon Road at around 7.15pm on Thursday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car - a 50-year-old woman - was uninjured.

There were no passengers in the car.
