Strabane, not the worst place to live any more

There was cause for celebration in Strabane last night after it emerged the Co Tyrone town is NOT included in the latest poll of the worst places in the UK to live.

Researchers on Channel 4's property show Location, Location, Location conduct a poll each year to find the best and worst places to live.

And while the people of Strabane were up in arms 12 months ago when their home town was named the eighth worst place to live, it does not feature at all in this year's top 20.

Two years ago, Strabane was in third place in the controversial list.

This year's dubious top spot honour goes to Middlesborough in the north east of England.

A quarter of this year's worst places to live are made up of London local authorities while there are no towns from either Scotland or Northern Ireland featured.

Phil Spencer, who presents the programme with Kirstie Allsopp, said: " Each year we seem to create a storm of controversy with this survey but it's all based on official data and all we do is tell you the results."
