Stuck dog’s owner gets animal ban
The owner of a dog found abandoned in a flat after it got its head stuck in an air vent was banned from keeping animals for five years, the RSPCA said yesterday.
Montgomery Wandera (24), of Biscot Road, Luton, was given a 12-month community order to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and told to pay £500 court costs by magistrates in the town yesterday.
The RSPCA said they were called after the Rottweiler cross got its head stuck through a tumble dryer vent and was poking out of the flat's external walls in Thricknells Close, Luton in January this year.
A prosecutor told the court firefighters and council officials were called out to help free the distressed dog.
The female dog, named Nikita, had been left alone for two days, the RSPCA said.
The animal had no access to food or water.
The dog, renamed Bounce by the RSPCA, has now been rehomed.
