Swift finally on track to top UK chart
Taylor Swift could finally top the UK singles chart with her new track Look What You Made Me Do.
The US pop star released the hotly-anticipated single on Friday to much fanfare, and by midweek it had been downloaded 20,000 times and streamed 2.4 million times, according to the Official Charts Company.
The electro-pop track, the lead single from Swift's forthcoming album Reputation, also broke Spotify records for the most streams in a day on its release, with eight million plays globally.
The video, released on Sunday during the MTV Video Music Awards, has already been watched more than 51 million times.
Swift, who recently allowed her back catalogue of music to appear on Spotify after three years away from the streaming service, has so far peaked at number two in the UK with three of her previous singles - Love Story, I Knew You Were Trouble and Shake It Off.
