Terrified pair robbed at gunpoint in their own home

By Lesley-Anne Henry

A grandmother and her teenage grand-daughter who were held at gunpoint during a robbery at their home have spoken of their terror.

A gang of armed and masked men forced their way into their house at Glen Colin Walk in west Belfast at about 10pm on Tuesday night.

The four intruders, one of whom was carrying a sawn off shotgun while the others brandished handguns, locked the occupants in a bedroom as they ransacked the bungalow.

Fifty-six-year-old Edith, who was too frightened to give her full name, said: “It was just very upsetting and distressing.

“They came to the door looking for my ex-husband. That’s why I opened the door, because they knew Dennis. I keep the front and back door locked at all times.”

The robbers stole a money box, a purse and two bottles of alcohol.

The PSNI have urged anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
