Troubles documentary to show victims' stories
Victims of conflict in Northern Ireland will outline their years of heartache in a new documentary.
The Commission for Victims and Survivors hosts a screening of "We Carried Your Secrets" today in the Grand Opera House, Belfast.
Commissioned by the Playhouse theatre in Derry with European Peace money the film reflects the personal accounts of seven people who suffered during more than thirty years of violence.
Suffering, inequality and social justice are highlighted as well as examples of courage and healing.
Chairman of the Commission Patricia MacBride said: "This screening is designed to promote awareness of the complex issues that victims and survivors of the conflict have had to live with.
"We want to give the audience, drawn from across a wide range of interests, an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing emotional, physical and mental effects imposed on those caught up in the conflict as well as highlight how unique an individual's story and experiences are."
