Pictured: Amateur photographer captures extraordinary images of Belfast bonfires from above

By Sue Doherty

With all the controversy this week about bonfires, especially after Belfast City Council took an injunction against more materials being added to four sites in Belfast, why not have a look at what all the fuss is about?

The Belfast Telegraph has compiled a gallery showcasing the most spectacular pictures of bonfires in Belfast and beyond.

Aerial photographs feature in the first five pictures. They were taken by William Young, an amateur photographer  who used a DJI Mavic Pro drone.

The 36-year-old is originally from east Belfast but now lives in the Shankill area. If you want to see more of William's photographs, visit his Facebook or Instagram page.

The rest of the photos were taken by professional photographers from the Belfast Telegraph and agencies, with some sent in from individuals.
