£33,000 raised by public for model hurt in acid attack

By PA Reporter

An aspiring model who received life-changing injuries when acid was thrown in her face on her 21st birthday is to receive more than £30,000 in donations after a fundraising page set up for her passed its target.

Friends set up the campaign after Resham Khan and her cousin Jameel Muhktar (37) were attacked by a man throwing acid through their car window in Beckton, east London, on June 21. Police are hunting John Tomlin (24) over the attack and the public have been warned not to approach him.

Donations have now reached over £33,000, just five days after the campaign was launched.

The money will help Ms Khan and her family with aftercare.
