Here is the text of the letter the DUP sent to Theresa May which has sparked a fresh row over the proposed "insurance policy" backstop.
In a letter responding to the DUP, which has been leaked to the Times, PM Theresa May outlined a proposal which to facilitate the UK's exit from the European Union which would include a backstop to keep Northern Ireland aligned with the EU on customs arrangements.
In the DUP's original letter, sent on November 1 and signed by Arlene Foster and Nigel Dodds, the "EU's version of the backstop" is described as "anathema to our precious Union".
