Army veteran jailed for mosque pig head
An Army veteran said to have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder has been jailed for hanging a severed pig's head from a mosque in Cheltenham.
Simon Parkes (45) served in Northern Ireland and the Falklands before leaving the army to care for his sick mother.
Gloucester Crown Court heard he committed the act after being angered by a news report on Armistice Day in 2010, which showed Muslim extremists burning poppies.
He was sentenced to four months in prison.
