Bank worker charged with fraud
A bank worker has been charged with theft and fraud offences involving amounts totalling £752,155, police say.
The 26-year-old man, who worked for Lloyds Banking Group at a Halifax branch in Redditch, Worcestershire, will appear before magistrates in the town next month.
West Mercia Police said the worker, who is from Redditch, had been charged with three offences of theft by an employee and three counts of committing fraud by abuse of position.
The man, who was originally arrested in August last year, is alleged to have stolen £187,155 while working as a counter-support officer for Halifax.
It is further alleged that sums totalling £565,000 were taken through fraud from a non-customer account between September 2011 and July 2012.
A police spokesman said the man had been released on police bail to appear at Redditch Magistrates' Court on February 5.
