Body found on university campus

A man has been found dead on a university campus, police said.

The body of the man, believed to be in his 50s, was discovered on the city centre campus of the University of Liverpool at around 2am.

A dog walker found the body in Dover Street, near Brownlow Hill, and called for an ambulance.

Police said they are investigating the death, which they have described as "unexplained".

A spokeswoman said the death "did not appear to be suspicious at this time".

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out by a Home Office pathologist later.

Police want to speak again to the man who discovered the body, and anyone else who was in the area between 12.30am and 2am.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 0151 777 4065.
