Cat pushed into attack by dogs

A cat owner has described her horror at the death of her beloved pet after it was allegedly deliberately pushed off a fence by two youths and attacked by dogs.

Jazz, a 12-year-old tortoiseshell cat, was on top of a fence in Osmund Drive, Northampton, on October 21 when a female passerby saw someone knock her off and into the path of the two dogs, which then attacked the cat.

The witness shouted at the youths to call off their animals, one of which was thought to have been called Marley, but they ran off.

Jazz had already died as a result of the attack.

She said: "I saw the cat on the fence, and then I saw a hand knock the cat off the fence and then I heard the attack. It was terrible."

Jazz's owner, Sara Giles, said the death of the beloved pet had left the whole family heartbroken.

"The whole family were really upset when we heard what had happened to Jazz," she said.

"We have had her since she was a kitten and she was part of the family. I cannot believe that someone would do such a cruel thing to an innocent animal.

"I just hope someone has some information about this incident, so that we can try to prevent this happening again."

Jazz was examined by a vet and a single large puncture wound was found in her chest.
