Detectives have released fresh CCTV footage as they vowed not to let up in the hunt for the killer of the grandson of Specials singer Neville Staple.

Fidel Glasgow, 21, was fatally stabbed outside a nightclub in central Coventry on September 1 but the person responsible has not been found.

West Midlands Police on Friday released footage taken near the Club M nightspot, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Meanwhile, Mr Glasgow’s grieving mother Melanie Staple urged the unknown killer to hand themselves in to ease the family’s “torment”.

“I haven’t just got to deal with the loss of my son. I also have at the back of my mind: who did it?” she said in a statement on Friday.

“Did they come to the funeral, or have they offered condolences? Whoever did it handed me and my family a life sentence.

“At least ease our torment and hand yourselves in.”

The new CCTV footage shows crowds of mostly young people running through the streets near the Club M nightspot.

A number of scuffles break out and in one incident Mr Glasgow is fatally attacked before the crowd flees.

Detective Superintendent Matt Markham said any new pieces of information, big or small, could help solve the case.

“There has been no let-up in our hunt for Fidel’s killer. We remain focused on bringing whoever is responsible to justice,” he said.

“We know there may be people who saw something, but feel it may not be significant enough to report it. Please let us be the judge of that,” he said.

“If you recognise yourself in the footage, please contact us and tell us what you saw, or maybe you filmed what was happening on your mobile phone.”

Mr Glasgow died in hospital hours after being stabbed in the stomach outside the nightclub.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been released without charge.
