Chris Moyles insists he's 'busy'
Chris Moyles has reassured his fans he is "busy" and not doing nothing after leaving his Radio 1 show more than two years ago.
The presenter has kept a low profile for much of the period since he left the breakfast show in September 2012, to be replaced by Nick Grimshaw.
Apart from a stint of touring with the stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar, Moyles has been largely out of the public eye apart from posting videos to his YouTube channel.
But he assured his fans he had been "doing plenty" and would let them know what he had been working on when the time was right.
In a message he posted on Facebook, he explained: "Contrary to popular belief I am actually quite busy with my life. Just cos I'm not on the radio anymore people think I'm doing nothing. I wish.
"I have been doing plenty and when the time is right, I will let everybody in on what I've been up to.
Moyles - who had more than seven million listeners for much of his eight-year stint on the breakfast show - has been posting videos to his YouTube channel for a number of months, but they have given him an audience which is only a fraction of the ones he used to enjoy on radio.
Many have been viewed fewer than 20,000 times, although a parody of the John Lewis Christmas ad has been seen 90,000 times.
Writing about his videos, he said "So my YouTube video experiment was fun. But it takes up a lot of time as I was pretty much doing everything myself. It's fun filming and editing and going through the comments, but it's like a full time job and so far this year I don't have the time to get back to it just yet."
He rounded off his message by saying: "Thanks for staying interested in me - really not sure why."
Moyles has previously talked about how he intends to move on from his radio career and does not plan to go back. In an interview in 2013 he said: " I kind of feel like I've closed that chapter of my book and now I'll do something else."
