Down distillery's sanitiser mission

A Co Down distillery that has turned its hand to making sanitiser desperately needs more bottles for another batch.

The Stillhouse Moira sold out of its first run of 300 bottles in just over an hour after posting it to social media on Tuesday.

Barbara Hughes, who owns the distillery and gastro pub with husband Stuart, said they wanted to get as much stock out to the community as possible.

Sales of the 250ml bottle were limited to two per person - and for the last 70, just one.

One customer had been hunting for sanitiser because a family member was undergoing chemotherapy.

Mrs Hughes said: "We're just trying to help as many people to keep the germ levels low. We need something that gives them a bit of reassurance."

But to make more they need more bottles that are safe for alcohol with a flip or squeeze cap.

Mrs Hughes has been contacting food suppliers so they can get another batch underway.
