EastEnders' Dot set for Strictly
EastEnders star June Brown is set to show off her Square dance - after stepping up as a contestant for a Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing.
The actress - at 83, the oldest contestant so far in the BBC One show - is among five celebrities who have signed up.
Fern Britton, Ronni Ancona and John Barrowman are also to be on the show. Business Secretary Vince Cable has already confirmed that he is taking part.
Brown - who plays Dot Branning, nee Cotton - will be partnered by Vincent Simone. She said: "I'm terrified and apprehensive about what I've let myself in for, I must be barmy and I'm not sure what's come over me...
"I just hope I can remember the steps to the routines. I'm looking forward to working with the professional dancers and the other contestants."
The five will be performing different dances to impress the Strictly judges and studio audience to collect the special trophy.
Britton, who will team up with professional Matthew Cutler, said: "Strictly Come Dancing is my family's favourite programme. I am really looking forward to the spray tan, false eyelashes and sequins."
Lib Dem MP Mr Cable - partnering Erin Boag - said: "Strictly has always been a secret, or not so secret, passion of mine. I hope that by taking part in the show I can inspire others to get up and do something they have always wanted to have a go at."
Ancona will team up with Anton du Beke and Barrowman joins partner Kristina Rihanoff.
