Elderly driver dies after crash

An elderly motorist has died after he lost control of his car on a motorway and went down an embankment, police said.

The 84-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the M40 near Denham, Buckinghamshire, at around 2.30pm on Sunday.

He had been driving a black Bentley Arnage Red Label saloon towards London when the vehicle went across all three lanes, then went down an embankment next to the hard shoulder, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police said.

He has not yet been formally identified.
