Ex-Downing St aide appears in court
A former Downing Street aide to David Cameron has appeared at crown court accused of child indecency offences.
Patrick Rock is charged with three counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing indecent images of children.
The offences, said to have been committed between 31 July and 31 August 2013, relate to more than 60 images, all described as category C - the lowest on the scale.
Rock spoke only to confirm his name when he appeared at a preliminary hearing at London's Southwark Crown Court.
Wearing a dark suit, blue shirt and checked tie, the 63-year-old sat in the dock alongside a security officer and occasionally looked at the floor during the 10-minute hearing.
Rock, of Fu lham in south west London, but living in the United States until recently, was told to return to the court on October 9 for a plea and case management hearing.
Bailing him, Judge Alistair McCreath said: "You can go now on broadly the same bail conditions to return to court on October 9."
