Fermanagh student shot and beaten in Leeds recovering after attack

An Enniskillen man shot and beaten in a senseless random attack near Leeds is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow.

Student Fearghal Cross (22) was walking home after a night out when he was blasted with an air rifle in a drive-by shooting before being savagely beaten, according to the Daily Mirror.

The GAA player is studying Design in Huddersfield and was less than a mile from his student digs when he was targeted last Saturday, sustaining serious head injuries.

Ollie Walsh, Club secretary for Brothers Pearse GAA, which Fearghal plays for, said: “His injuries were very serious in the beginning but he’s a fighter and hopefully the worst is behind him.”
