Former England Captain Ray Wilkins dies aged 61 in London hospital

Former England and Chelsea footballer Ray Wilkins has died at the age of 61.

The news was announced by his former club Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon.

He had been receiving treatment at St George's Hospital in London following a cardiac arrest.

A statement posted to Chelsea's Twitter feed reads: "Everybody associated with Chelsea Football Club is devastated to learn of the passing of our former player, captain and assistant coach, Ray Wilkins. Rest in peace, Ray, you will be dreadfully missed."
