Giggs brother 'in shock' at claims
Ryan Giggs's brother Rhodri is "in shock" after his world was "tipped upside down in one night" by claims that the Manchester United footballer had an affair with his wife, a close friend has said.
TV star Will Mellor told ITV1's Daybreak programme: "It's a horrible time, imagine having your world tipped upside down in one night, if you can imagine what that's like."
Asked if Rhodri, 34, was still in shock, Mellor said: "Yes, horrendous time for everyone who's innocent in this and I just hope it blows over sooner rather than later and he can start rebuilding his life. Horrendous time."
The father of Rhodri's wife Natasha, Phil Reade, told The Sun newspaper: "Rhodri is not going to take Natasha back.
"I feel for Rhodri, I really do, because he's been a real gent as far as Natasha is concerned. I've tried to speak to Rhodri but he hasn't replied to any of my messages yet. I can only assume it's because he's too upset."
The claims emerged after footballer Giggs, 37, who has two children with his wife Stacey, 32, obtained a court order banning publication of details of an alleged affair he had with Big Brother housemate Imogen Thomas.
The injunction was breached in the House of Commons after details appeared on the internet, although Ms Thomas is still barred from speaking about it and is planning to challenge the gagging order on her.
She reportedly said of the new allegations: "I thought I was special. It goes from bad to worse."
Giggs was awarded an OBE in 2007 and is one of the Premier League's most successful footballers.
The News of the World reported at the weekend that Natasha Giggs had told friends she met the footballer in 2003, the same year she met his brother. She alleges that their affair carried on even after she married Rhodri last September.
