Girl fights for life after crash

A teenager is fighting for her life in hospital after a hit-and-run road crash.

The 17-year-old pedestrian was in collision with a white van in the early hours, which failed to stop at the scene in Farnworth, Greater Manchester.

She has been taken to hospital for treatment to a bleed to the brain and a suspected fractured pelvis.

At this stage, her injuries are considered to be serious and potentially life-threatening, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Pc Leigh Rickett, from GMP said: "We are at the early stages of our investigation and would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us."

Anyone with information on the incident, shortly before 2.15am early on Saturday morning on Anchor Lane, Farnworth, is asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 4741, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
